Tyre Cost per Km Calculator
Enter the price of a tyre, how far it lasts and how many tyres your vehicle runs on to see the tyre cost per kilometre. Add retreading and scrap value if you use them. The figures pre-filled are examples. Your entered values stay out of analytics.
Formula and assumptions
Net cost of a tyre = price + retreads × retread cost − scrap value. Kilometres per tyre = life of a new tyre + retreads × extra life per retread. Cost per km per tyre = net cost ÷ kilometres. Tyre cost per km = that × tyres on the vehicle. Cost per month = tyre cost per km × kilometres per month.
- Net cost of a tyre over its life = price + retreads × cost of each retread − scrap value. Kilometres delivered = life of a new tyre + retreads × extra life after each retread.
- All tyres on the vehicle are assumed to wear alike. Leave the spare tyre out of the count.
- Enter the price you actually bear. The tool does not adjust for GST input credit.
- The figures are the amounts you enter; the tool knows no market rates, and any pre-filled figures are examples.
- It does not include balancing, alignment, tubes and flaps or puncture repairs.
- Money is rounded to 2 decimal places (half up), each from the exact figure. Cost per 1,000 km is shown because a few rupees per km loses precision when rounded to the paisa.

Frequently asked questions
Should I count the spare tyre?
No. Leave the spare out of the fitted-tyre count, because it does not wear while it is in the boot. If you want to recover the cost of owning a spare, include it separately in your other vehicle or fixed costs.
How do retreads change the result?
Each retread adds its cost and the extra kilometres it gives. A retread that costs less per kilometre than a new tyre lowers your overall tyre cost per km.
Where do I use the answer?
Enter the tyre cost per km in the Cost per Kilometre Calculator, or in the tyres and maintenance field of the Trip Cost & Profit Calculator.
Which tyre price should I enter?
Enter the tyre and retread amounts you want treated as your business cost. This calculator does not determine GST or input-tax-credit eligibility.
Are the pre-filled numbers real rates?
No. They are examples so you can see how the tool works. Replace every figure with your own, using the real life you get from your tyres.
