Civil Engineering Standards & Material Factors

When converting wet concrete volume to dry ingredients, Indian civil standards use a dry volume multiplier of 1.54 to account for voids in sand and coarse aggregate.

For nominal concrete mixes: M15 (1:2:4) is standard for PCC and flooring; M20 (1:1.5:3) is standard for structural RCC slabs, beams, and columns; M25 (1:1:2) is used for heavy-load foundations.

💡 TMT Steel Weight Rule

Use the universal civil formula Weight (kg/m) = D² / 162, where D is the rebar diameter in millimetres (e.g. 10mm = 0.617 kg/m, 12mm = 0.888 kg/m).

💡 Standard Brick Wastage

Always budget 5% to 10% extra bricks for cutting, handling breakage, and corner adjustments on site.
